Meet the Candidate Night A Success

Another successful “Meet the Candidate” Night was held by the SWBBA.  Questions submitted by the audience were presented  to the panel by Moderator Sue Barre of WKRZ’s Rocky and Sue radio show.  Mayor Thomas Leighton and Wilkes Barre City Council candidate, Rick Cronauer, chose to not participate.  But lively and informative discussions of the issues were presented by Wilkes Barre Mayoral candidate, Linda Stets, and Wilkes Barre District “ A”  City Council candidate, Walter Griffith, Jr.
Questions ranged from how these candidates would attract business to the area, what kinds of businesses will help invigorate the city, should more emphasis be placed on the neighborhoods in terms of economic revival, how to stop the exodus of city businesses, how to address the drug and crime problems with the institution of a “knock and talk” program, how the candidates would address the rising nepotism in the city and would they hire their relatives if elected, would they re-institute a spring clean-up, do the candidates truly feel they can make a difference in WB and why”, etc.
The candidates answered all questions with a great deal of expertise and confidence.
SWBBA will continue to sponsor “Meet the Candidate” Nights and possibly expand to inviting candidates for county offices as well as those for Wilkes Barre city.
